Mexican authorities have arrested a businessman who had reportedly been declared dead following a 2025 shooting, seizing 15 luxury vehicles and other property valued at more than 145 million pesos, officials said.
Justo Aurelio Rivera Parrazales was detained during a series of four raids in Mérida, Yucatán, according to Mexico’s federal security cabinet. Authorities identified him as an alleged logistics and financial operator for the Northeast Cartel.
Officials said the seized property included Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Porsche vehicles, along with firearms, jewelry, cash and suspected illegal drugs. The assets were valued at approximately 145.3 million pesos, or about $7.8 million. (El Imparcial)
Rivera Parrazales had previously been reported killed in an armed attack on March 8, 2025, outside a bar in Querétaro as he approached a green Lamborghini Urus. Authorities have not publicly explained how he came to be listed or reported as dead, or whether another person was mistakenly identified after the shooting.
The suspect and the seized property were turned over to federal prosecutors, who will continue the investigation and determine what charges he may face.
Authorities said the seizures represented a significant financial blow to the criminal organization. Rivera Parrazales is presumed innocent unless convicted in court.
