Mexico sends search-and-rescue team to Venezuela

Mexico sent a search-and-rescue team to Venezuela on Saturday afternoon, the country’s Foreign Ministry said.

The mission includes 25 specialists from the Mexican Red Cross’ Urban Search and Rescue unit, the Cancún International Rescue Brigade and one member of the Topos Azteca brigade.

The team is traveling with five canine search units and 3.5 tons of equipment and tools for search-and-rescue work, according to the ministry.

The effort was organized in coordination with the Mexican Red Cross national headquarters and Volaris. Mexican officials said the mission reflects the country’s solidarity with the Venezuelan people during a difficult time.
