A grand gesture of community support marked the opening of the newest Chuy’s Tex-Mex restaurant in Bell County. On August 10, Chuy’s Harker Heights celebrated its official ribbon-cutting ceremony by donating a total of $6,354 to two cherished local organizations.
Aware Central Texas, an organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of violence in Central Texas, received a substantial check of $5,524. The funds were raised through a combination of online and in-store events during the restaurant’s Friends and Family and Charity Night grand opening activities.
Misty Biddick, Executive Director for Aware Central Texas, expressed her heartfelt gratitude: “We are so appreciative of our new friends at Chuy’s! Their support of our mission and the clients we serve is invaluable.”
In addition to the donation to Aware Central Texas, Chuy’s also raised $830 for the Harker Heights Pet Adoption Center. Through a unique fundraiser that encouraged patrons to submit dog photos for Chuy’s famous Dog Wall, $1 was donated for each submission. The first 150 photos from the event now adorn Chuy’s Harker Heights La Chihuahua Bar.
Jenn Reid, General Manager for Chuy’s Harker Heights, emphasized the company’s commitment to community support, saying, “Chuy’s always believes in giving back to the community, focusing on organizations that help children and animals. We are honored to have formed amazing partnerships with these two deserving nonprofits.”
