Black Bear Diner to Bring Rustic Charm and Homestyle Comfort Foods to Waco with New Construction Project

A renowned restaurant chain known for its homestyle and “old-fashioned” comfort foods, Black Bear Diner, is set to make its mark in Waco. With its rustic motif and unique bear-themed decor, the new Black Bear Diner promises to be a delightful addition to the community.

Founded in 1995 by Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley, Black Bear Diner has grown steadily over the years, establishing its presence in the Western United States. The upcoming Waco location, situated at 2424 Creekview Dr, Suite 150, is part of the chain’s expansion strategy to cater to more diners across the country.

Each Black Bear Diner boasts a charming 12-foot-tall black bear carving, created by the talented artist Ray Schulz, making it an eye-catching focal point for visitors. Moreover, the restaurants feature custom murals and artwork by Steve and Gary Fitzgerald and Colleen Mitchell-Veyna, contributing to the unique ambiance that diners love.

The menu is creatively designed to resemble an old newspaper titled “The Black Bear Gazette,” featuring articles on the front page. Younger patrons will enjoy “The Beary Tale Times,” the children’s menu with exciting activities to keep them entertained.

Offering a variety of family meals, including breakfast, burgers, salads, shakes, and delectable baked goods prepared on-site, Black Bear Diner ensures there’s something for everyone. In select locations, adults can also indulge in alcoholic beverages, provided they are at least 21 years old.

The new construction project, starting on October 16, 2023, and expected to be completed by February 7, 2024, will be a tenant improvement of a new shell building. The estimated cost of this expansion is around $450,000, signaling a significant investment in the Waco community.

Black Bear Diner’s forthcoming presence in McLennan County is eagerly anticipated by locals, who are excited to experience the warmth and hospitality the restaurant chain is known for.

For those in Waco craving delicious comfort food served in a charming and inviting atmosphere, Black Bear Diner will soon become a go-to destination.
