Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is inviting the public to help shape its future art installations by attending a special open house later this month. The event will feature a meet-and-greet with seven local artists selected to create permanent public art at the airport.
The AUS Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carver Library, located at 1161 Angelina Street in East Austin. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists, learn more about upcoming projects through the city’s Art in Public Places program, and share their own thoughts, ideas, and inspirations.
The initiative is part of Journey With AUS, a broader community engagement effort to ensure that the airport’s art installations reflect the unique culture and creativity of Central Texas.
Registration is now open, and community members are encouraged to RSVP in advance. The airport’s social media post announcing the event has already generated significant interest, with over 5,000 views and dozens of comments within the first hour.
Whether you’re an artist, a traveler, or a fan of Austin’s ever-growing creative scene, the event promises a rare behind-the-scenes look at how public art takes flight in one of Texas’s busiest travel hubs.
