Downtown Austin lit up with color, music, and celebration during this year’s PRIDE parade, where thousands gathered to show support for the LGBTQ+ community. Marching down Congress Avenue with the Texas State Capitol as a backdrop, members of the Austin Police Department joined the festivities, celebrating alongside community members under the banner of the Lesbian & Gay Peace Officers Association (LGPOA) Austin.
The parade drew enthusiastic crowds who lined the streets, waving rainbow flags and cheering for participants. Officers and community leaders alike walked together, holding a banner representing LGPOA Austin, whose mission centers on service, education, and protection while fostering inclusivity within law enforcement.
The department shared their gratitude following the event:
“We had such a blast at this year’s PRIDE parade hanging with our community! We are thankful for a safe and fun event and are looking forward to next year! Thank you to all who came out and participated.”
For the officers who took part, the evening was more than just a parade—it was an opportunity to connect, celebrate diversity, and reaffirm a commitment to community partnership.
