Shahroz Khan, a Texas A&M University graduate, is teaming up with seven of his cousins to open 15 Layne’s Chicken Fingers locations across Central Texas, beginning with their first restaurant at 11312 Hero Way West in Leander.
A second location is planned for 701 W 24th St in Austin, just steps from the University of Texas campus.
Khan and his cousins—all second-generation immigrants who grew up in Texas—say their venture is rooted in a lifelong dream of building a family business. Inspired by their parents, five brothers who launched a business together after immigrating to the United States, the cousins see Layne’s as a natural fit for their next chapter.
Most of the cousins also attended Texas A&M, giving them a personal tie to the brand that got its start near campus. As they prepare to expand in the Greater Austin and Waco areas, the family is focused on locating sites near universities and student populations.
Khan said the team is actively scouting real estate and finalizing timelines for all 15 locations, aiming to bring the College Station favorite to more communities across Central Texas.
