Plains ISD Launches $4.26 Million Facilities Upgrade

Plains ISD is set to break ground this May on a trio of major campus improvement projects totaling more than $4.26 million, aimed at modernizing athletic and parking facilities for students and the community.

All three projects will take place at the district’s main campus located at 811 Cowboy Way in Plains, Yoakum County, with an expected completion date of September 15, 2025.

The current 7-lane track will be fully removed and replaced, upgraded to an 8-lane configuration over a 360,000-square-foot area to meet competitive standards.

πŸ”Ή New Tennis Courts – $1,835,558
A brand-new 66,000-square-foot concrete tennis complex will be built to replace the district’s previous courts, offering improved facilities for student-athletes and PE programs.

πŸ”Ή New Parking Lot – $393,000
The district will convert the existing tennis court area into a 48,615-square-foot parking lot, helping accommodate the growing number of vehicles at school events and daily activities.

All projects are publicly funded and part of Plains ISD’s ongoing investment in campus infrastructure. Construction on all three will begin simultaneously on May 15, 2025.
