Inmates at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Bartlett Innovation Unit are partnering with the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter to help foster dogs learn basic commands, giving the animals a better chance at adoption.
The program not only benefits the dogs by improving their adoptability, but also provides inmates with hands-on experience and skills that support their rehabilitation and personal growth.
Officials say the initiative is part of a broader effort to create positive outcomes for both the animals and the individuals in custody.
