Governor Greg Abbott celebrated Texas’ economic achievements and growing financial sector at a Nasdaq, Inc. luncheon held March 18 in Dallas, honoring entrepreneur Ross Perot Jr. for his contributions to the state’s economy.
“We’ve seen an acceleration over the past decade in the growth of the financial sector in Texas,” said Governor Abbott. “There is not a more diversified state economy anywhere in the United States of America, and that is because of leaders like Ross Perot Jr.”
The event marked Nasdaq’s announcement of a new regional headquarters in Texas, a move the Governor described as a “natural evolution” for a state he called “the home of capital of the United States.”
Abbott noted Texas remains the top state for job creation, ranks as the Best State for Business, and has an economy exceeding $2.6 trillion—eighth largest in the world. Following his remarks, Abbott was presented with the Nasdaq, Inc. Appreciation Crystal.
Also in attendance were The Perot Group Chairman Ross Perot Jr., Nasdaq Chair and CEO Adena Friedman, and Nasdaq Executive Vice Chairman Ed Knight.
