The Texas A&M Forest Service reported that personnel responded to 14 new wildfires on Tuesday, burning a combined 18,518 acres across the state. Firefighters continue working active incidents while managing containment on multiple fronts.
As of 10:15 a.m., key active wildfires include:
- Windmill Fire (Roberts County): 23,297 acres, 99% contained
- Duval 1256 Fire (Duval County): 58 acres, 90% contained
- Crabapple Fire (Gillespie County): 9,858 acres, 90% contained
- Chicken Strip Fire (Real County): 22 acres, 95% contained
- Duderstadt Fire (Gillespie County): 36 acres, 95% contained
- Bootes Fire (Kendall County): 118 acres, 98% contained
- High Lonesome Fire (Dallam County): 18,000 acres, 50% contained
- Double S Fire (Hutchinson County): 350 acres, 5% contained
- Dollar Fire: 3 acres, 95% contained
- Harrison 1392 Fire (Harrison County): 50 acres, 95% contained
Fully contained wildfires now include:
- Roadrunner Fire (Jim Wells County): 6 acres
- Fifty Fire (Willacy County): 98 acres
- Resaca Fire (Hidalgo County): 130 acres
- Quincy Fire (Hale County): 20 acres
- Cherokee 1453 Fire: 4.5 acres
- Hopkins 1451 Fire: 0.5 acre
- Red River 1463 Fire: 1 acre
- Angelina 1462 Fire (Angelina County): 4 acres
- Hardin 1459 Fire (Hardin County): 30.1 acres
- Jasper 1481 Fire (Jasper County): 0.6 acre
- Nacogdoches 143 Fire (Nacogdoches County): 30 acres
- Newton 1433 Fire (Newton County): 3 acres
- Montgomery 1491 Fire (Montgomery County): 55 acres
- Los Indios Fire (Hidalgo County): 14 acres
Work on the High Lonesome Fire in Dallam County continues to be challenging due to low visibility conditions and road closures.
