Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge Project Reaches Structural Milestone with Topping-Out Ceremony

The Texas Department of Transportation and developer Flatiron/Dragados, LLC. marked a significant milestone in the Harbor Bridge Project this week, holding a “topping-out” ceremony at the center of the new bridge. The event, a traditional construction practice, included the placement of trees to signify the completion of the structural phase of the project.

The new Harbor Bridge, set to be the longest concrete segmental cable-stayed bridge in North America, has required over 10 million man-hours of labor. Project officials praised the workforce’s commitment to safety and efficiency throughout the construction process.

The bridge, which aims to enhance transportation and connectivity in the Coastal Bend region, is scheduled to open to the public in spring 2025. The ceremony’s backdrop featured Palmetto Palm Trees provided by SL&C Landscaping.
