Houston’s Buzbee Law Firm has initiated a lawsuit against Roc Nation, attorneys Marcy Croft and Quinn Emanuel, accusing them of barratry, impersonation of a public official, and other state law violations. The suit, filed in response to alleged illegal activities aimed at undermining the firm’s legal pursuits, particularly in the Diddy litigation in New York, claims that agents acting for the defendants offered money to former clients to file frivolous lawsuits against Buzbee Law Firm.
The lawsuit details that these agents, falsely claiming to represent the State of Texas, have repeatedly solicited former clients of the Buzbee Law Firm, with offers up to $10,000. This conduct, according to the firm, was recorded secretly, capturing discussions of the payments and the strategy to initiate legal actions against Buzbee.
Marcy Croft, identified in social media as part of “Team Roc,” is alleged to be orchestrating this conspiracy with support from Quinn Emanuel. The lawsuit further alleges that Roc Nation is financing these illegal operations.
Tony Buzbee, head of the Buzbee Law Firm, stated, “Ever since I sent a demand letter to Jay Z’s lawyers, my family, staff, and I have faced unprecedented attacks, including direct solicitations to our clients and former clients, offering them money to sue me. This was a targeted effort to deter our firm from its legal proceedings related to the Diddy litigation.”
The lawsuit highlights that this scheme was not only unethical but also caught on tape, adding a layer of indisputable evidence to the allegations. Buzbee emphasized that despite these tactics, his firm remains undeterred and committed to pursuing their cases vigorously while cooperating with authorities to prosecute those involved to the fullest extent of the law.
