Texas Top 100 Construction Projects in September Surpass $7 Billion in Permit Value

Texas saw significant development in September 2024, with the top 100 construction projects permitted across the state totaling over $7 billion. These permits reflect substantial investments in infrastructure, education, commercial real estate, and industrial developments. Here are some highlights from the state’s largest projects.

The IH 35 Drainage Tunnels in Austin, valued at $628 million, stands as the largest permitted project for September. This major renovation aims to improve critical drainage infrastructure along one of Texas’ most vital highways.

In the education sector, the Crowley High School Replacement – Pkg 3 in Crowley received a permit worth $350 million. This new construction project will provide the community with a state-of-the-art high school, reflecting ongoing investments in Texas’ educational infrastructure.

In Abilene, Project Ludicrous is one of the biggest new construction projects of the month, with two separate permits issued for $292 million and $140 million. This development in Jones County is expected to boost the local economy.

The tech sector also saw notable growth with the registration of the QTS DFW2-DC1 data center in Dallas, valued at $288 million. The project highlights the region’s growing prominence as a technology hub.

In San Antonio, SAT 17, a large-scale new construction project, was permitted at $215 million, while the I-35 NEX Central Project: Segment 2 was approved for $150 million, both contributing to the region’s infrastructure and commercial growth.

Several other noteworthy projects include the Lakefront South Condominiums in The Woodlands, permitted for $210 million, and the GFT Hotel in Arlington, valued at $200 million.

Fort Worth continues its development surge with the CyrusOne DFW7 data center, permitted at $200 million. This project reflects the ongoing expansion of digital infrastructure in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
