Half Moon Empanadas to Open New Location at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

Half Moon Empanadas, a Miami-based artisanal empanada business, is set to open a new location at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The tenant improvement project will take place at the Barbara Jordan Terminal, #3405, Austin, TX 78719, in Travis County. The construction is scheduled to start on September 3, 2024, and is expected to be completed by October 10, 2024. The estimated cost of the project is $730,000.

The scope of work for this project includes architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades to the existing food and beverage establishment. The 498-square-foot space will feature new millwork pieces, service line equipment, finishes, and updated menu boards.

Half Moon Empanadas was launched in August 2008 by Pilar Guzman Zavala and Juan Zavala. From its central commissary in Miami, the company produces hand-made empanadas with the best ingredients. Over the years, the business has expanded to over 30 locations, including airports, hospitals, universities, and convention centers.

This new location at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport marks another step in Half Moon Empanadas’ mission to spread hand-held satisfaction throughout the country, one empanada at a time.
