Senator Cruz Joins Midland-Odessa Leaders to Celebrate Key Interstate Expansion Milestone

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, arrived in Midland today to participate in a pivotal meeting with the Midland-Odessa Transportation Alliance (MOTRAN). The assembly, which attracted a broad coalition of state officials and local leaders from across the Permian Basin, focused on significant infrastructure projects poised to transform Midland-Odessa into a major transportation and trade hub. Highlighting the gathering was the recent enactment of the I-27 Numbering Act of 2023, which Senator Cruz has supported, marking a significant milestone in the effort to expand the Interstate 27 corridor and enhance the region’s connectivity.

This legislation, signed into law last Friday by President Joe Biden, designates the Texas and New Mexico portions of the future Interstate-designated segments of the Ports-to-Plains Corridor as Interstate Route 27. The act represents years of concerted efforts to bolster the region’s infrastructure, aiming to link Midland-Odessa directly with other major interstate highways. The move is expected to drive economic growth and establish the area as a critical center for transportation and trade, not just within Texas, but across the nation.
