The new sports season is in full swing, and it’s an electrifying time for enthusiasts of Killeen ISD athletics, cheer, dance, and band. As the student-athletes and their mentors prep for their games, the spirit groups are equally busy gearing up for their competitions, while also rallying behind their favorite teams.


This marks the second consecutive year KISD high schools have ventured into multi-classification competitions, ushering in a blend of novel challenges and introducing new rivals.
All KISD staff can freely enjoy the thrill of varsity athletic events by presenting their district ID.
The high school volleyball scene is buzzing with action. Harker Heights Lady Knights have already secured two home match victories against Memorial Christian and Lampasas amidst some rigorous away tournaments.
Local sports aficionados should make a note of the forthcoming dates. On Tuesday, Aug. 22, the Killeen Lady Roos are set to face off at Knights Gym, followed by a match against the Ellison Lady Eagles on Tuesday, Aug. 29, both commencing at around 6:30 p.m.
Chaparral Lady Bobcats are returning home for a senior night clash on Friday, Sept. 8, against Waco High at 5:30 p.m. The subsequent match is slated for Tuesday, Sept. 12, marking parents’ night, pitting the Lady Bobcats against University High at 6:30 p.m.
Following these, the Lady Bobcats will contest with the Killeen Lady Roos on Tuesday, Sept. 19, and later with the Ellison Lady Eagles on Tuesday, Sept. 26, with both matches taking place at the Chaparral Gym.
Other notable matches include the Lady Roos versus Ellison on Friday, Sept. 8 at 5:30 p.m. and the Lady Roos against Shoemaker Lady Grey Wolves on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Shoemaker.
The Lady Grey Wolves made an impressive start, overpowering Lometa in their home opener. They’ll next host Lampasas on Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m.
With hopes of re-entering the playoffs, Ellison, Shoemaker, and Chaparral are poised for a fierce volleyball season.
The excitement spills over to football. Beginning next week, two all-KISD games are scheduled at Leo Buckley Stadium. The first, on Thursday, Aug. 24, will see the Harker Heights Knights challenge the Ellison Eagles at 7 p.m. The subsequent match on Friday, Aug. 25, will feature the Killeen High School Kangaroos against the Chaparral High School Bobcats, also kicking off at 7 p.m.
For enthusiasts, a range of exciting football dates have been slated. Among these are Chaparral versus Shoemaker on Friday, Sept. 1, Ellison against Shoemaker on Friday, Sept. 22, Killeen against Ellison on Friday, Oct. 13, and Killeen against Shoemaker on Friday, Oct. 27.
