Harker Heights Graduate Earns Nomination for Texas Armed Services Scholarship by Rep. Brad Buckley

According to a news release by Killeen ISD‘s Karen Fox, Donald Bentley III, a notable 2022 alumnus of Harker Heights High School, has received a nomination from Dr. Brad Buckley, Texas State Representative, for the esteemed Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program.

This annual scholarship allows each legislative office to nominate one deserving student. The program is tailored for Texan students dedicated to advancing their education while aspiring for roles in services including the Texas Army National Guard, Texas State Guard, the United States Coast Guard, or as commissioned officers in the armed forces.

Donald, now in his second year at the University of Texas at Arlington, is pursuing a major in Biology and is complementing it with dual minors in Military Science and African-American Studies.

His active involvement extends both on campus and in the broader community. As a member of the Maverick Battalion, Donald is shaping his future as an ROTC cadet. Furthermore, his dedication to the community shines through his active participation in the UT-Arlington Black Pre-Med Student Alliance, his voluntary efforts with the NAACP, and his invaluable inputs for the Big Event Committee at UTA.

Commenting on Donald’s achievements, Representative Buckley stated, “From Bell County, Donald stands out as one of the exceptional talents. It’s inspiring to anticipate the remarkable contributions he’s bound to make. His focus, drive, and potential make him a future linchpin for the US Army and the domain of medicine.”

During his tenure at Harker Heights High School, Donald’s academic prowess was evident. He was ranked among the top 10 of his class and positioned within the top 51 students of Killeen ISD’s Class of 2022.

Upon completing his undergraduate degree, Donald aspires to enter medical school, setting his sights on a distinguished career in Military Medicine.
