Revol Greens, a pioneering force in controlled environment agriculture (CEA), proudly announces the grand opening of its cutting-edge 20-acre greenhouse in Temple, TX. This groundbreaking facility marks the world’s single-largest CEA lettuce operation ever constructed, and it is equipped with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence tools for unparalleled climate control, irrigation, and energy management, ensuring optimal output and efficiency year-round. The expansion aims to meet the surging demand for Revol Greens’ premium leafy greens, positioning the company as the largest CEA footprint for leafy greens in the nation, now exceeding 50 acres.
The innovative Temple facility is not only a milestone achievement for Revol Greens but also a significant boon to the local economy, as it is expected to create 130 new jobs in the area. With this strategic addition to their operations, Revol Greens strengthens its distribution network in Texas and the central and southern United States, giving access to over 70 percent of the US market when combined with its existing facilities in Owatonna, MN, Athens, GA, and Tehachapi, CA.
Michael Wainscott, the CEO of Revol Greens, expressed his excitement, saying, “This is a milestone moment for our team. We are on a mission to provide fresh, affordable lettuce to consumers across the country. The addition of the Temple facility opens new markets to Revol Greens, allowing for further reduction of food miles typically traveled within the US salad market.”
As a testament to its commitment to sustainability, Revol Greens’ advanced growing practices ensure the perfect balance of nutrients and hydration reaches different lettuce varieties throughout the growing cycle, guaranteeing year-round consistency across all product lines. Moreover, the company’s greenhouses are designed to significantly reduce water consumption in the US, projected to save an impressive 880 million gallons of water each year compared to traditional field-grown lettuce. The Temple facility will further demonstrate this commitment by sourcing most of its water through rainwater collection, conserving up to 380 million gallons of precious Texas water.
With distribution partnerships with major retailers such as H-E-B, Sprouts, Costco, Walmart, Kroger, Target, United Supermarkets, and Amazon Fresh, Revol Greens’ fresh, locally grown, organic, and conventional lettuce, including their popular salad blends, convenient salad kits, and head lettuces, will be more accessible to consumers, reaching store shelves within 24 – 48 hours of harvest.
Revol Greens is honored to collaborate with leading food retailers in Texas and support the Texas Department of Agriculture’s GO TEXAN program, which champions local agriculture.
