The Harker Heights Knights football team is gearing up for an exceptional season, and their hard work and dedication have earned them a special honor. Eight Knights players have been featured on the cover of a commemorative magazine published by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, showcasing the team’s impressive accomplishments.
The team took a momentary break from their rigorous summer strength and conditioning drills to celebrate this recognition. Representatives from Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Bell County, a local sponsor, presented the glossy magazine cover to the players and coaches on a turf practice pad alongside the school’s football field. The cover captures the essence of the Knights’ spirit, featuring the players surrounding the iconic Harker Heights shield.
Last season, the Knights made history by reaching the state quarterfinals, leaving a lasting impact on the football community. This year’s preseason buzz revolves around their potential to repeat as District 12-6A champions, as per the predictions in the special magazine edition.
The commemorative magazine cover will be exclusively sold as a team booster club fundraiser and includes the entire 400-page Texas Football magazine, a comprehensive annual preview of Texas high school and college football.
Knights’ Head Coach, Mark Humble, shared his excitement about the upcoming season and commended the players for their commitment during the summer training. He emphasized that they are striving for something even better this year and acknowledged the beauty of high school football lies in the fresh start it offers each season.
Quarterback Dylan Plake, a senior and offensive leader for the team, expressed his pride in being featured on the cover. He viewed this recognition as a testament to their hard work and a motivation to continue their winning streak. Plake spoke highly of his team’s potential, emphasizing that they have hidden talent ready to surprise opponents.
Linebacker Kabriel Anderson-Dale, who was recognized as the District 12-6A preseason defensive MVP, highlighted the importance of last year’s playoff run in shaping their focus and determination for the upcoming season. Senior defensive back Ashton Stanford echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the team’s unity and growing excitement.
As the Knights continue their summer conditioning, they are building camaraderie and determination to make this season even more memorable than the last. With lofty goals and an unyielding drive for success, the Harker Heights Knights are ready to take the field and showcase their talents on their journey towards a victorious season.
