Belton ISD Implements Safety Upgrades Across Campuses with 2022 Bond Funding

Belton Independent School District (ISD) is making significant strides in enhancing safety and security measures for its students and staff thanks to the 2022 Bond Program. With funding from the voter-approved program, the district is investing approximately $6 million in various safety enhancements throughout its campuses.

One notable addition funded by the 2022 Bond Program is the installation of shatter-resistant film, aimed at providing an additional layer of protection for windows. This measure ensures improved safety for students and staff during potential security threats or natural disasters.

Furthermore, the safety upgrades include secure vestibules, upgraded campus building and door identification, keyless access systems, and improved video surveillance systems. These measures are expected to enhance the overall security posture of the schools, providing a safer environment for everyone.

As part of the safety improvements, the district is also focusing on exterior lighting enhancements, which will contribute to increased visibility and deter potential safety risks during evening hours.

Additionally, the 2022 Bond funding allows for the installation of bottle refill stations, promoting sustainable practices and providing students with easy access to fresh drinking water throughout the campuses.

To address the need for enhanced playground safety and accessibility, the district will initiate upgrades to elementary and pre-school playgrounds starting from May 29, 2023. These upgrades will include curbed fall protection measures at each playground and improved sidewalk access to playscapes and swings.

The Belton Early Childhood School will see additional playground equipment installed, providing young students with more opportunities for physical activity and play.

The implementation of these safety projects is crucial to meet the new security requirements set by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). While some projects are already in progress, others are scheduled to begin this summer, and their completion is expected to extend into the new school year.

Belton ISD remains committed to prioritizing the safety and well-being of its students and staff, and the 2022 Bond Program is a significant step towards achieving that goal. To learn more about the ongoing safety upgrades and their progress, interested parties can visit bit.ly/46YpEf7.
